Ten Months Old

At ten months, Henry still loves the band Caspar Babypants.  Nothing, aside from the breast, puts him to sleep or calms him down like Caspar Babypants.  Snuggle him into the Ergo and press "play" and Henry will usually put his blonde little head right down for some sleep while you bounce around for a bit.  Evelyn went through a similar phase at this age, but she preferred the Indigo Girls ("Closer to Fine").

Henry has also recently mastered the ability to climb.  He can now scale the little bookshelf, the children's picnic table, and the couch-- if he can climb onto a basket or small chair to reach it.  This skill makes me very nervous, as it's really only a matter of time before he climbs onto something and falls before I can reach him.  In other "big boy" news, Henry loves rice pasta, chicken (baked and then shredded), mango, apple, avocado, and basically anything we put in front of him.  He strongly prefers to feed himself and he does a pretty good job.  If we aren't paying close enough attention, Henry has begun to squeal and then sign "more" with his hands.  He also signs "milk" and we're working on "up," "water," (he loves to drink from a cup) and "all done."

I can't quite remember exactly when Evelyn's attention span developed to the point that she could listen to mulitple books, but it seems that Henry is more interested listening and looking for at least a few moments before resorting to his favorite sense and tasting the book.  This is a welcome development because it's been a tough adjustment for Evelyn and me to try to come up with a new reading routine that works for Henry too.

Yawn!  It's hard to wait for carrot-watermelon soup.
